{     Shobaleader One     }    

Check out this video for "Megazine", the lead single off the new nine-song mini-album from Tom Jenkinson a.k.a. Squarepusher's new side-project Shobaleader One. The story is that a group of undisclosed but supposedly big players got in touch with Jenkinson and wanted to create an actual band based on a past effort of his, 'Just A Souvenir', a concept album inspired by a "daydream about watching a crazy, beautiful rock band play an ultra-gig.". WHOA. Not only did Cut Copy just, *SURPRISE*, drop a new song out of nowhere on their site for free, but it's like they decided to say "Hey, you know how it's summer and everyone is doing that synthy, lofi, but totally Beach-Boy-biting stuff? Let's show 'em how you make a glowing, hifi Beach Boys Summer jam to end all jams."

Success.

It's got shimmery Tanlines-ish sounds, Beach Boy "wooo-hooo-hooooo"'s and all the catchiness that's missing out of 80% of the songs in that little genre, filled with plenty of that trademark Cut Copy goodness and thrown in the air like a beach ball.

{     Ratatat "Neckbrace" from 'LP4'     }    

Kinda super-loving this new leak from Ratatat, their 'LP4', which was supposed to have been released after 'LP3' a few years back, but for some reason never was. It's a pretty straight-forward Ratatat record with a couple oddball tracks welcome-ly veering a bit left of their normal sound, nothing too new or wildly adventurious, but a very nice addition to the collection of we Ratatat fanatics. We're loving it thru and thru.
