{     Chicago Art Fair Snapshots 2008.     }    

Ahhh... Chicago. City of Angels, The Big Apple, Wild, Wonderful Chicago, The Keystone City, City of the Rising Sun, Home of the Chicagalites. Da' Hares! If you can make it there you can make it anywhere right? Mmmm... Wait a second...What's the catch phrase for Chicago? Isn't the Blustery Bear their mascot?

Hell, I don't remember. What I do remember is that I took a buttload of snapshots at Art Chicago and The NEXT fair. Art Chicago voted for Bush in the last 2 elections but wishes it could take back the second time. NEXT chanted "Yes we can!" all the way to election day.

{     Poketo First Editions Art Show - March 22     }    

The first in a series of art events for 2008 at Poketo's new studio, "First Editions" will showcase limited-edition letterpress and giclee prints by 25 international artists, including Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Chris Pew, Leif Parsons, Kate Bingaman-Burt, Susie Ghahremani, Keith Shore, The Little Friends of Printmaking, and more. All prints are first editions, with runs of 50-100 pieces of each print available for purchase at the opening reception on Saturday, March 22nd, from 6-10 PM. {     Sylvia Ji at Corey Helford Gallery     }    

I've recently become quite enamored with SF - LA artist Sylvia Ji and her immaculate paintings. Sylvia paints women in their most supple-skinned subtlety, and then juxtaposes that beauty with what I guess you would call Dia de los Muertos or New Orleans voodoo fashion, creating what could possibly be the perfect concoction for getting me to reach for my wallet.

Sylvia has a show opening TONIGHT at LA's Corey Helford Gallery. Go if you can, I wish I could!

{     Hate Eternal "Fury and Flames"     }    

Eric Rutan was a part of the "Domination" era of Morbid Angel (next to "Altars of Madness," my favorite MA album). He went on to produce Cannibal Corpses' most legible work to date "Kill" Not to mention boarding for Six Feet Under and Goatwhore, all while "Conquering the Throne" with Hate Eternal. When it comes to death metal this man trvly is "King of all Kings".

At this point, though, I didn't think it was possible for him to come up with something MORE brvtal than the aforementioned resume but "Fury and Flames" has turned my eardrums to dust. Cannibal Corpse OG Alex Webster is back to play bass.

{     Super7 Visighost - Valentine's Day Edition     }    

As you sit nestled in your workspace/office/toy museum surrounded by hundreds of brightly colored, ultra-collectible, limited edition, variant colorway, import-only bits of plastic, plush and vinyl this Valentime's Day (yes, I call it that) you may notice for the first time that despite the numerous adorable faces and eyes gazing out at you from your shelves, that you feel kinda lonely. No doubt this just left you still feeling rather alone, and maybe a little bit sleazy.

I've been a fan of SCIEN & KLOR of the 123KLAN since, well, the year 2000 - with their distinct graffiti-vector style, bitten by thousands over the years. Well today I got an email from the boys informing me that they've branched out and have begun their own clothing line called BANDIT-1$M, and all I can say is ABOUT TIME. The first two tees released, shown above in yellow, are available in several great colorways and I'm sure more heat is yet to come. {     Junko Mizuno at Roq La Rue     }    

CrownDozen.com favorite Junko Mizuno is showing three new paintings at Roq La Rue in Seattle this February. They're for an animal-themed group show titled "A Cabinet Of Natural Curiosities." The show begins February 8th and will not be one to miss as there will also be pieces on the walls from many other stunning artists.
